Why You Might Not Want to be Number 1!

Being number one sounds like a great idea, but it’s not always as great as you might think. A lot of people won’t just click on the first search result and buy something.

Research shows that people want to explore their options a little bit more and make sure that they’re making the right choice. These same people might click on several different sites and look at what they have to offer. They might also be very interested in avoiding the sites at the very top, under the assumption that popularity can bring high prices.

You’ll want your rankings to be high, sure, and your site to be in demand, so that you can bring in more customers, but you might want to leave just a bit of room at the top for someone else. By doing so, you’ll likely make more money and your customers will be happier with what they get from you.
