Demographics and AdWords…A Good Combination

Google AdWords has been
popular for a while, but it doesn’t always give people the results that
they’re looking for. To get good ads that are well-positioned, a person or a
company has to pay a lot of money. There is money to be made of course,
especially if a lot of people click on your ads and end up making a purchase.

However, if your ads aren’t attracting the right people you aren’t going to
make money, no matter how many people click on them. A lot of companies who
advertise don’t like to adjust for demographics because they feel it’s
unfairly ignoring others who want their goods and services. Specifying
demographics, however, like sites that target certain ages and genders, really
raises the sales numbers.

This doesn’t mean that no one outside of that
demographic group will see your ads. If a man goes to a site that has women as
a targeted audience he may find your ad and you could make a sale that way.
The same is true for age, ethnic makeup, religious preference, or any other
criteria that might affect where your ads go and how much money you make
because of them.

Blogging Is Great For SEO, But It Does Take Some Work

being-a-successful-blogger-takes-work.jpg

When blogging first caught on, a person could just blog about a topic that others were interested in and have a huge readership. Put a few links and ads on there, and you had yourself a great moneymaker for only a few minutes worth of work each day.

Now those days are over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be successful as a blogger, you just have to work at it a bit more.

Finding a good niche that people are interested in is the key, but there are so many blogs today that yours has to stand out. You need a plan for your blog, instead of just throwing it out there randomly.

Know what you’re going to talk about, have knowledge of your topic, and find out about your audience before you start posting and getting frustrated because no one is reading what you’ve got to say. It’s much more important for you, if you want to make money, to talk about something that you enjoy and that other readers can relate to.

If you don’t care about your topic and are only writing to make money, your readers will see that and go elsewhere to get their information.

Another advantage to having a blog, regardless of your industry, is a blogs ability to add weight to your organic position by utilizing long tail keywords. Ask us how having a blog can help you attract more business.

Need Better Marketing? Why Not Use Twitter?

BloomSEO
Posted under Buzz Marketing, Marketing, Viral Marketing

Not everyone has heard of Twitter yet, since it’s a relatively new Web 2.0 social networking site. Among those who are aware of it, not everyone knows how to use it, at least not in the best way possible.

Twitter is all about social networking and about what each person is doing on an individual basis. If you aren’t willing to post once a day or more and talk about yourself, Twitter might not be the place for you. People can get to know you through the site and they often visit the links and other information that you put on there.

Be careful not to only post links, or you’ll look like you’re only using the site for spam, and that’s a real turnoff for a lot of people.

If you are open and honest and you really talk about yourself and your interests, and if you only put links in your posts that have some relevance to what you’re talking about, you’ll have a pretty good chance of sparking some interest on the site.

That can help you market both yourself as a competent person as well as project your business as a good company to deal with.

Google – Ranking Decisions Are Still Elusive

Even though Google says that they talk about their ranking philosophy, some of it can still be confusing and there’s no real way to know if the company’s providing all the details or only a portion of what they actually do.

Originally they said that they had hundreds of reviewers who would make determinations as to how sites should be ranked, and that was how your Website got to the top (or the bottom) of the list. Now, they share more information about the algorithm that they use to produce the results that you get when you search for something – but they don’t really give the details.

Google doesn’t always return good results, either, and the company sees those times as a reason to adjust their algorithms and keep working to ensure that people get what they need when they search.

The company can’t give the specifics behind what they do and how they do it, though, or every search engine out there would be copying them. Despite the problems that they sometimes have with searches they’re still seen as being one of the best and most accurate search engines out there.

Better SEO With The 301 Redirect

BloomSEO
Posted under Basic SEO Techniques

Better SEO with the 301 redirect SEO (search engine optimization) is a hot commodity these days as everyone is looking to generate traffic for their site. SEO can be performed in various ways but one of the most effective methods involves the implementation of a redirect.

A 301 is the most widely used and SEO-friendly type of redirect. The 301 redirect instructs a search engine that your web page has been permanently moved to a different location. As a result, the search engine drops the old page from its index and includes the new one, transferring page ranking and link popularity to the new location.

Another common redirect is the 302. A 302 redirect is only temporary and does not serve many benefits in regard to SEO. This is mainly because it often allows duplicate content to be indexed to a search engine, causing web pages to be assigned to a supplemental index that doesn’t receive top priority. A 302 redirect is most beneficial only when a new page is needed on a temporary basis. Since a search engine responds to a 301 implementation by dropping the old web page, the chance of having duplicate content in the index is rather unlikely.
